Our Desk

Santanu Dey – Secretary

Times are changing… and changing and changing fast… and in the ensuing speed, our indigenous culture is swept away into oblivion.

We are in a world that refuses to accommodate the uniqueness of its people. Culture today is cast into a homogeneous whole… market has come to determine the cultural choice and preferences of the people.

Gradually and steadily the song of the soil are being modified to suit the dictates of the market … Getting modeled to promote songs and that that alienate opiate us into the dream of the unattainable, promote aspirations to the unachievable level leaving us an eternally dissatisfied, frustrated and alienated lot.

Our sweetest songs no longer survive to tell our saddest thoughts. Our emotions, imagination, are dinned in the metallic rock music leaving us numb, incapacitated to discern our roots to where we belong.

Reality shows have come to establish themselves with aggression. Talents, rather than being nurtured are pushed into rat race to achieve quick recognition. Young minds, vulgarized early are rendered bereft of the potency to bloom and enlighten the world they are to inherit tomorrow.

No. We are not set to create any alternative culture. Rather it’s our mission to preserve all that is and has always been ours…. songs of our soil, songs that speak of the reality around us songs that speak of the people, the culture that speak of the toils of man in shaping human civilization and carrying it forward to the next stage. We are not at war with any school of thought. We are here to ensure that a hundred flowers have their chance to bloom… and bloom out in full profusion and fill our surroundings with a hue that has more colours than the most enchanting rainbow we have ever seen.

We welcome all on this gracious evening.

People and people alone are our strength and together shall we move forward towards a dawn that can accommodate everything that is pure and pristine.
